Job Description:
The Research Foundation (RF) Office of Compliance Services (OCS) is responsible for leading, managing, and championing corporate-wide initiatives designed to maintain, enhance, and promote a strong culture of compliance at the RF. We provide expertise and guidance across the RF and SUNY system in the areas of ethics, risk management, internal controls and a wide array of programmatic areas.

The OCS strives to attract, develop and retain diverse talent with the potential to be future leaders of our department and of the RF as a whole. We are seeking a creative and ambitious compliance professional with strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills to support the implementation of the RF's board approved Compliance Program. The Compliance Analyst will interact with all levels of the RF and SUNY constituents, and report to the Deputy Compliance Officer.


  • Provide daily support of initiatives supporting the implementation of the RF's Compliance Program;
  • Monitor the daily operations and processes of the OCS to conduct statistical analysis, identify trends and implement operational efficiencies and continuous improvement strategies;
  • Conduct research and provide analysis regarding current trends and best practices related to the elements of the compliance program including policy development, implementation, and administration; training and education; ethics, corporate values, and professional responsibility; risk management and internal controls; and privacy related matters;
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain content, training materials, visual aids and documentation for new and ongoing compliance training programs and serve as primary support for compliance training and education projects and initiatives;
  • Draft compliance related communications and reports, and help maintain tools and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Collect and analyze data on pertinent regulatory matters in order to help function owners stay informed of changes in pertinent federal and state regulations, and local laws;
  • Assist in the implementation of OCS-led projects, including tracking and documenting issues while working with other stakeholders, to see projects from conception to completion;
  • Assist with the overall maintenance of the RF's compliance management system, and serve as the compliance team liaison with external vendors to support annual compliance certification and disclosure processes;
  • Maintain logs, files, indexes, status reports, computer databases, and other records pertaining to compliance, records management, conflicts management, and risk;
  • Assist with the policy administration process, including developing compliance related policies and procedures, maintaining the RF's Policies, Procedures and Forms webpages, and providing guidance to other policy writers on style and content;
  • Participate in compliance audits and assist with the monitoring of corporate activities and internal controls;
  • Provide support for the investigation of complaints, concerns, and Ethics Hotline cases;
  • Serve as OCS liaison to support the implementation of uniform guidance standards related to federal expenditures;
  • Serve as a compliance team liaison to various corporate projects and initiatives as needed; and
  • Perform other ad-hoc compliance and administrative functions to support the RF's strategic and operating plans as assigned by the Deputy Compliance Officer.

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience, including technical administrative, auditing and/or compliance related experience;
  • Project management skills and experience, as demonstrated in prior academic, volunteer or professional experiences; and
  • Proficient computer skills with specific experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Prezi, Excel, Google Suite and the Apple iOS environment, with proficiency in tablet computing.

  • Detail oriented with superior organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality work under limited time constraints;
  • Excellent research, data analysis, and comprehension skills, with ability to summarize pertinent information;
  • Dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, professional presence and attitude, and ability to work independently;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and training capabilities, and ability to relate and work well with people of many cultures, disciplines, and levels of experience;
  • Open-minded, with strong aptitude for creative thinking and problem solving;
  • Superb work ethic and optimistic attitude that thrives in a dynamic and complex working environment;
  • Displays appropriate sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work, and promotes and exhibit high ethical standards, professionalism, and trustworthiness; and
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing & communications, or accounting;
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification held at time of hire or obtained within 1-2 years of employment; and
  • General knowledge of ethics and compliance concepts, such as standards of conduct, business ethics, best practices, hotline management, and managing compliance related issues.
