The Challenge
We are hiring an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Division 14 Henderson county team.
 
In this role, you will
  • Perform field and office engineering for the maintenance operations overseen by Division 14, Henderson County.
  • Supervise and coordinate reviews of technical plans and drawings relating to driveway permit applications, utility encroachment requests, subdivision design standards, and petitions for additions.
 
What You Bring
  • Experience performing inspections, sampling, and materials testing (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
  • Computer knowledge using iPads, desktops/laptops, MicroStation, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and math functions.
  • Experience maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
  • Experience conducting independent, moderately complex inspections with limited supervision.
  • General knowledge of surveying and methods, equipment, and materials used in highway construction.
  • General knowledge of math functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take good notes.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Safety toe shoes.
 
Education & Experience
  • Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and
  • 2+ years of engineering technician experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Note
  • You will be required to work nights and weekends when needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather and on uneven surfaces and slopes.
