The Maintenance Technician - Team Leader is a working position that ensures proper maintenance and upkeep of all electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment within the plant; including facility support, processing, high speed packaging equipment and Fanuc robots. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, controls and PLC problems with equipment taking corrective action to minimize equipment downtime. Mechanical installation of new equipment including; basic PLC programming, pneumatic, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, HVAC and compressed air. Responsible for scheduling changeovers when necessary and supporting management in the yearly mechanical review process.

Under direction of Maintenance Supervisor, oversee the daily activities of the Maintenance Team. Establish priorities and issue job assignments. Hold people accountable for job performance. Actively coach and develop Team, up to and including delivering disciplinary actions. Keeps Maintenance Supervisor informed of work activities including equipment status and employee relations issues.

Provide technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting, equipment modifications, and preventive maintenance, especially with respect to networking, PLC's and HMI's.

Determine root causes of problems and implement corrective action.

Install new plant, processing and high-speed packaging equipment, electrical controls and power supplies.

Support contractors during electrical and mechanical installations.

Completes routine preventive maintenance assignments. Investigate, price, purchase and monitor inventory levels of spare parts and tools using COGZ Maintenance Management MRP System. Informs Maintenance Administrator of any parts shortages and inventory discrepancies. Provide recommendations to ensure efficient critical spare parts inventory.

Provides training for operators and Maintenance Technician Level 1 and 2.

Ensures compliance with all GMP, FDA, OSHA, NEC and/or company guidelines and regulations.

Fabricates critical parts using machine tools including; lathe, mill, welder, grinder and saws.

Supports continuous improvement activities by participating in Kaizen teams. Constantly looking for ways to improve quality and cost of machine repairs.

Communicates with all levels of the organization. Must be able to provide honest feedback to team; both positive and negative. Works with and explains problems to operators, other maintenance personnel, and supervises in a cooperative way. Explains equipment malfunctions and provides concise root cause analysis. Openly discusses issues such as safety, quality and productivity.

Contacts vendors to request technical support 24 / 7 when necessary.

Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls and PLC problems with equipment, taking corrective action to minimize downtime.

Takes own initiative to make corrections without involving supervision whenever possible.

Responds daily to operator requests for support without direct supervision.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Associates degree or minimum of 10 years Electro-Mechanical / Controls experience.

Must have experience programming PLC, HMI and frequency drives.

Experience with bulk powder and liquid transfer systems preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

Must be available to work any shift and must be able to work weekends.

Must have 10 years of experience with high-speed wrapping equipment and Fanuc robots.

Must have strong writing, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Communicates with all levels of the organization, from hourly production staff to corporate officers.

Must be a proven leader with a track record of developing skills of individuals and nurturing cooperation within Teams.

Must be a self-starter and able to manage multiple critical activities simultaneously.

Operates machine tools including: lathe, mill, welder, grinder, saws and press.

Maintains safe and clean work environment following all OSHA, GMP, FDA guidelines.

Exposure to noise and dust and other raw materials. May be required to handle caustic chemicals with proper PPE. May have to work outside on occasion in hot summer and cold winter to support factory emergencies.
