Remote Senior Family Law Paralegal (Contract/Part-time)

With a reputation for messy disputes amongst the closest of human relationships, Family Law is an area that requires the utmost professionalism and service. We are adding another Senior Family Law Paralegal to our team to provide legal tasks with excellence to our attorney clients so they can resolve legal issues effectively and efficiently. 

Virtual Paralegal Services seeks 2 or 3 part-time/flex-time senior-level paralegals specializing in Family Law to join our remote team. The successful candidate must have excellent working knowledge of family law either in a single state or multiple states, preferred, from start to finish to service law firm attorneys across the country. Must have experience setting up cases, calendaring, docketing, preparing petitions, financial disclosures, and organization of related documents including court appearances. Specific knowledge of multiple jurisdictions is not needed, but the candidate must be willing to research local exemptions and rules due to the jurisdiction specifics of this practice area. Additional knowledge and experience working in civil litigation, personal injury, medical, or similar are also a plus. 


  • Review client intake and drafting of:
    • Petitions and pleadings preparation, declarations, financial schedules, legal correspondence, complaints, answers, deposition preparation, discovery responses and demands, conference, hearings, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation, and settlement agreements, temporary and final court orders
  • Create and implement all elements of family law case management systems, including file management (electronic), case calendaring, task lists and family law-related deadlines
  • Research and analyze case management procedures, local court rules and statutes for compliance
  • Review and monitor case dockets to identify, summarize, and circulate relevant pleadings and court hearings
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case information, which may include documents, exhibits and other items
  • Assist in ensuring Family Law related documents are completed accurately and entirely in accordance with applicable state and federal laws
  • Any other task required as necessary 


  • Must be able to handle high volume cases from a single law firm or multiple law firms in different jurisdictions that includes researching local exemptions and rules if unknown and when necessary
  • Self-motivation and ability to proactively monitor deadlines and look up local exemptions/rules when necessary
  • Strong customer service and client relations including phone and email communication with clients, attorneys and courts
  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid computer skills and experience with MS Office products and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Single or multiple Family Law program usage or similar experience is preferred
  • Attention to detail, solution-oriented and forward-thinking that strives to anticipate deadlines
  • Professionalism and organization skills 


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of working experience in Family Law
  • Multi-jurisdiction experience is preferred, but not required
  • Additional experience in paternity, custody, adoption, and immigration processes is desirable
