Job title: Senior Production Engineer

Salary: Base salary $120,000

Location: 104-03 180th Street Jamaica NY 11433 along with other plants acquired and some business travel

Company Summary

We are growing steel manufacturer in the Jamaica, NY area. Working primarily in the public works sector of the commercial construction industry providing custom steel products for new and capital improvement projects for such city agencies as NYC SCA, MTA, NYCHA as well as state authorities as DASNY and the DOT. We fabricate in steel, iron, aluminum, and brass providing ornamental, architectural, and light structural products.

Job Overview

Develop engineering initiatives and production design to effectively utilize equipment and steel materials to maximize production. Create operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives. Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards. Regular tasks include the engineering design and development of new steel product design in a manufacturing environment, support to bid and proposal efforts, support to the production teams and any timely issue resolution. Additionally, must provide technical input to non-engineering support staff. The Engineer will also assist with training lower level employees in completing work assignments as well as acting as a mentor to interns or lower level Mechanical Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to visiting client sites to take measurements and gather information regarding final product and installation. Prepare and submit required documentation and submittals to clients and or project managers for approval. Establish design, model and draft 3D components and products using such programs as Solid Works and ETC within project requirements and specifications. Create finished drawings for production and assembly criteria for equipment and machine operators. Identify and select materials needed for production.

Develop and maintain complete bills of material for each project and a cumulative members' library. Collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, Production and Quality departments during all stages of project design. Provide technical support and consulting to customers and suppliers.

Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to aiding in the forecasting of the production schedule with the production team and operations manager.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science/Engineering (B.S / B.E.) in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited institution. Master's Degree preferred.10+ years engineering experience preferred. Applicants with less experience may be considered based on their competency and experience.
Experience in designing/analyzing components, and assemblies
Working knowledge of Mechanical and Electromechanical assemblies.
Experience in technical writing (work instructions, reports, etc.) with an attention to detail for formatting, consistency, and thoroughness.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, assemblies, and drawings (SolidWorks / AutoDesk Inventor).
Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, lookup functions, etc).
Ability to read, analyses, and interpret reference manuals, engineering standards, and vendor component catalogues.
Must have or achieve OSHA 30 hr and 4hr scaffolding licenses to visit sites
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with all operational disciplines
