The Teacher Leadership Specialist (TLS) will operationalize this emerging vision. This intent is to present leadership opportunities in a coherent and strategic manner to multiple stakeholder groups, including teachers, school administrators, the CTU, district leadership, and more. The Teacher Leadership Specialist will be expected to collaborate regularly with the Office of Teaching and Learning. The TLS will report to the Executive Director of Educator Effectiveness. Position Summary The primary objective of the Teacher Leadership Specialist will be to further define and operationalize an emerging vision for teacher leadership. More specifically, the TLS will: * Build relationships with internal and external partners who provide leadership opportunities for teachers; * Gain a comprehensive understanding of current opportunities marketed to CPS teachers, both from within the district (e.g. Framework Specialists, Consulting Educators, etc.) and from outside the district; * Organize the opportunities into a cohesive paradigm, suitable for presenting to CPS Senior Leadership, including the CEO, Chief Education Officer, and Chief Talent Officer; * Develop content for a web-based interface to share teacher leadership opportunities with internal and external stakeholders, collaborate with IT Department to launch; * Establish and facilitate focus groups of teachers and principals to seek continuous feedback on the content and process; * Design and deliver presentations to various stakeholder groups that articulate our vision for Teacher Leadership; * Establish a tracking system to monitor the level of engagement with the opportunities on the career ladder, (e.g. How many teachers apply for this role, how many are selected, etc.); * Analyze the data generated by the tracking system and adjust strategies as needed to drive continuous improvement; * Become familiar with the national conversation regarding teacher leadership and seek out opportunities to connect with other districts and organizations, building on lessons learned in other places; * Design and implement an ongoing communications strategy targeted to CPS National Board Certified Teachers, for the purposes creating new programming and platforms to publicize and share best practices; * Perform other duties as assigned.
