Position Information Casual Exempt: No Any Shift: Hours per schedule Weekend & Holiday Rotation: Per schedule Position Summary Summary: This position delegates responsibility to the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Aides. Activities of this position are patient focused and utilize assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL: Responsibilities: (20%)* Evaluates the patient's function by performing formal/informal testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular status, developmental, social, and cognitive functions. (20%)* Develops a goal specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry-out the treatment plan as prescribed. (20%)* Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician. Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Co-signs verbal orders received by occupational therapist assistant as necessary. (20%)* Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff. (20%)* Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding pathology or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supervision for Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students per affiliate and regulatory standards. Recommends adaptive/supportive equipment based on assessment; contacts appropriate representative and/or supplier to place order and assists in securing equipment for patient. Documents the patient/family/caregiver response to treatment and changes in patient condition per affiliate documentation policies and/or standards and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Completes daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies Provides treatment intervention and demonstrates competence to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to therapist's patient care area. Educates patient/family/caregiver in home education program using relevant and effective teaching methods. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication with all internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care including coordination with interdisciplinary team members. Promotes education and development among staff, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods. Promotes process improvement. Assists with program development, Participates in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Promotes occupational therapy within MidMichigan Health and service area, participating in and providing community education. Function as case manager for assigned cases. Demonstrates commitment to MidMichigan Health and specific affiliate mission as evidenced by customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Maintains confidentiality of patient and affiliate information in accordance with MidMichigan Health and affiliate policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is required and must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. Ability to work where employee may be exposed to communicable diseases. Ability to use personal protective equipment correctly. Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation. Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professional and non-professional individuals. Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Conditions PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MidMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium. May assign prescription medication to patients as needed based on licensing. * Conducts Rapid Assessment for Adolescent Preventive Services (RAAPS) and counsels clients based on information and results obtained. * Documents and maintains findings and medical information in a systematic, accurate and succinct format in compliance with program and HIPAA regulations. * Obtains various specimens, performs laboratory tests and interprets results. Orders additional testing as needed. * Reviews overall findings and interprets subject and objective data in order to develop an individualized plan of care including client focused interventions as well as prevention plans for high risk clients. Collaborates with other members of the program health care team as needed. * Consults with Physicians, Advanced Practice Clinicians, or Medical Director as needed in order to discuss findings and appropriate treatment for clients. * Refers clients to appropriate resources and follows up on referrals to ensure that prescribed treatment is obtained. Advocates for clients as needed. * Screen and identify clients who meet criteria for enrollment into the Childrens Special Health Care Services program (CSHCS) and work with client and various entities to ensure enrollment. * Monitor, maintain and document all services in compliance with the agencies quality assurance plan, program and professional standards, and accreditation requirement. Report on program progress at required intervals per funding guidelines. * Provides education and counseling to clients and the community regarding optimal health care. * May conduct HIV testing and counseling as needed. * Maintains currency in nursing skills and techniques as well as knowledge of domestic violence recognition and treatment plans. * Shall follow the funding sources requirements and CARF standards applicable to the services you provide. * Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities* Prepares the weekly sales and labor projections for the Natural Living Department in order to maximize sales and profits; ensures department operations are within the labor percentage allowed.? Monitors and controls all costs and expenses; includes proper ordering, inventory control, avoiding out of stock goods and/or overstocks, controlling shrink, and monitoring ad displays.?
