Basic Qualifications Six (6) years' experience as a Tech Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Understand basic concepts (to include basic grammar concepts), responsible for writing technical copy for various types of documents. Use multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio etc. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Desired skills Assist in preparing and maintaining operations documentation, user guides and manuals and technical publications. Gather technical information, prepares written text. Maintain a current internal documentation library. Understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity. The person filling this role will need to conduct interviews with both users and tool designers, and also possess the technical prowess to work backwards from tool completion to development in order to create operating instructions, how-to manuals, troubleshooting guides, and frequently asked questions pages. Operating independently, the Technical Writer will develop a standard format for documentation of business developed applications as well as a format for documentation of operational processes that exist solely on paper checklists or within user tribal knowledge.
